Bottom line: It makes coffee!
It's a fine coffee maker. However, I am a life-long paper filter user. This unit sports a permanent mesh filter which requires rinsing. A small nit for me, but tossing a paper filter in the compost heap and buying new filters once every 6 months was less of a hassle than the daily need to rinse out the permanent filter--to say nothing of the issue of transporting loose grounds out the the compost heap!

Coffeemaker by Cafe Belmondo
I prefer to use paper filters, this coffee maker comes with a re-useable filter. If I use paper filters in the basket, the coffee gets all clogged, the filter folds over and makes a big mess. I have no choice to use the re-useable filter, but it still lets grounds seep through, so I ALSO use a paper filter underneath the re-useable filter that I don't want to use at all.

The permanent filter is difficult to clean and may develop an oily film, and occasionally allows coffee grounds through. I use paper filters now, making it much easier to dump the used grounds. Also, the two-hour shut off feature is aggravating. I see no advantage over standard coffee brewers.

The timer was easy to set and the included filter actually 'filters'; no sediment to speak of. Yet, the warming plate is way too hot and the coffee tastes 'cooked'. I won't be using this appliance - it's going to the Goodwill.
